The Bay Trust: Improving Web based Marketing and design for environmental education and health and wellbeing (Paid placement)

Organisation name: The Bay Trust
Placement opportunity: Web development, online resource and marketing communications
Location: Nr. Dover
Type of placement: flexible, residential option
Short summary: The Bay Trust is an environmental education charity based in Kent with two sites just 4 miles apart off the A258 between Dover and Deal. The Trust has on-site accommodation which will allow flexibility with this placement to enable students to stay at the Bay Trust for some or all of their placement. This can be discussed during an initial conversation about the opportunity.

The aim of the Trust is to improve lives through outdoor learning and connections with the natural world. In optimizing the use of their two sites and the learning programmes they deliver, The Bay Trust are working to grow public health and well being in communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a student to join a developing charity for the summer and support them to drive forward positive impacts for environmental and social benefit.
What I am looking for: The Bay Trust has expertise in developing sustainable carbon negative buildings and a range of entrepreneurial methodologies that underpin construction that leave a carbon negative footprint.  We need to improve our web based resources to tell the story about the nature of the work we do in a contemporary way so that we can capture and convey key messages to the general public about the uniqueness of our work.  The Calyx for example will become an Eco Hub for Health and Wellbeing and we need to be able to convey why this is important for community wellbeing.  We are looking for an entrepreneurial creative student with experience in design and marketing to develop our web platform.  The placement will involve meeting local stakeholders to gather ideas about how they see our role as a charitable foundation, gathering feedback from local volunteers and drawing out key themes from our strategic work to market through the website.  We would support the student to be creative in terms of use of photography, film, vlogging/blogging, connections to social media and in return we are to keen to learn from them about how we can improve our marketing and communications generally to a wide range of audiences.  We will provide support in terms of software and mentoring with our Communications Director.
