Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science
First name: Sam
Short introduction: I am a 1st year BSc (Hons) Health Nutrition & Exercise Science student at Solent University.
I wish to apply and develop my knowledge of public health, to promote healthy living, and to improve people’s knowledge and application of healthy lifestyles, resulting in more positive health outcomes within the overall population.
Education, skills knowledge and experience: I have 6 GCSE’s including English (B) and Maths (C) and gained a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at Brooksby Melton College. This enabled me to study BSc (Hons) Health, Nutrition & Exercise Science at Solent University.
I have displayed good communication skills in football as well as in placements I have undertaken, such as working in the gym, coaching Year 9 girls and coaching for J4K. Without this and good teamwork skills the placements would not have been a success. I have demonstrated good motivation skills when encouraging Year 9 girls in football and have differentiated sessions when coaching for J4K and training Year 9 girls to enable all to participate. My time management skills have prevented sessions from overrunning.
With my knowledge of social determinants of health and overall health and nutrition, alongside knowledge of exercises, I aspire to either become an exercise rehabilitator or work in public health.
