Dissertation: Naked participation: An investigative study of participation in naturist leisure activities and events
Dissertation category: Social care & communities
Short summary: I have already begun research for my dissertation and am just in the process of crafting my research methods.
My dissertation is titled: Naked participation: an investigative study of participation in naturist leisure activities and events, looking at culture, perceived benefits and realms of experience present within naturist leisure pursuits. The aims of the study are:
To explore naturism as a leisure activity.
To uncover the possible benefits of practicing naturism (eg confidence, body image, self esteem)
To uncover what role culture plays in these benefits (eg group think, culture web, community, identity)
To investigate the possible further applications of naturism (eg in education, sex Ed, mental health problems, depression)
To tie this in with relevant leisure, experience, co-creation and culture theory
Detailed summary: As I have already chosen my dissertation topic, I would be interested to know of any organisations who feel they may stand to benefit from my research. Perhaps those in organisations dealing with body image, mental health or sex education may be applicable. Through my research I am hoping to find plausible and positive ways of using naturism for the betterment of society. If any organisation feels that they may be able to contribute in any way or wish to have any input into my research, it will be greatly welcomed.
