Detailed summary: My area of focus is investigating dancehall music's relationship to the construction of masculinity in West Indian society. My aim is to determine how the content of this genre corresponds to the way in which West Indian men perceive and construct their masculine identities. I also wish to examine how this perception of masculinity potentially impacts gender relations in the region.
